Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly looking to bring in Paris Saint Germain defender Marquinhos to Stamford Bridge in January as he continues to search for star players to revive his ailing side.
According to popular French media outlet Le 10 Sport, Chelsea are reportedly set to return to France for PSG defender Marquinhos after failing to sign the player on transfer deadline day in the summer.
The Blues reportedly made an offer believed to be in the region of £33.1m for the 21-year-old but the bid was rejected by PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
The Brazillian defender was also subject to a transfer move to Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United in the summer, with some reports going as far as claiming personal terms had been agreed for the player to complete the move last summer.
However, Chelsea, after having several bids for Everton’s John Stones knocked back in the summer, are once again set to return for Marquinhos in January, with reports claiming a strong bid would be tabled which would see the player make the move to London in the winter.
Chelsea are hopeful of landing Marquinhos in January with relative lack of playing time for the player a major problem at the Parc des Princess.
Marquinhos is behind Thiago Silva and David Luiz in the pecking order and has made just four starts this season.Follow Football News Arena on Facebook and Twitter for the latest transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from across the major Leagues in Europe and around the World.
