Arsenal have had a bid rejected for Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez, according to reports.
Arsene Wenger is still in search of a centre forward to bolster his attacking options before the end of the transfer window and the club is trying to make a late move for Perez after learning that the striker would be available for about £16.9m.
Arsenal’s scouts have been monitoring the striker in the past year and sent officials to Spain on Thursday morning to formalize it’s interest.
But according to Cadena SER via Arsenalstation.com, Arsenal’s initial bid has been rejected.
The report claimed Arsenal offered to pay the £16.9m fee which happens to be the player’s release clause in two installments but the La Liga club wants the fee to be paid in full.
It was thought that Arsenal would complete a deal for the striker within 24 hours and should the club decide to pay in full, the deal could still be completed before the weekend.
Everton are also interested in the striker but are set to miss out on the striker.
The striker scored 17 La Liga goals last season and could be a decent addition to a squad.
