Arsenal have joined the race to sign Juventus striker Simone Zaza, according to reports.
Arsene Wenger has been in search of a striker to compete with Olivier Giroud. It was claimed the French tactician had made signing Antoine Greizman his priority but the French tactician was told the striker would remain at Atletico Madrid this season.
Wenger had opted against signing a striker due to the unavailability of world class options in the transfer market, instead choosing to put his faith on Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott to compete with Giroud but neither of them have impressed in the two games played this season.
It seems Wenger’s search for a striker is back on and TutoMercatoweb via the Football Insider claims Arsenal are interested in signing Zaza.
However, the club would face competition from West Ham, Southampton, Everton and Napoli.
Italian Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio via the report claims Napoli and West Ham had already held talks with Juventus over signing the striker.
Juventus are demanding a loan fee of £5.2m with an option to buy for £18.9m at the end of the season.
However, we are unsure if the striker would be an upgrade to our current options as he was neither first nor second choice option for Juventus last season. He managed to score eight goals in 24 appearances for the Serie A giants last season.
