Arsene Wenger will likely remain at the Emirates unless the English FA are able to persuade him to take over the Three Lions job.
The French tactician has been sounded out as a possible replacement for Roy Hodgson who resigned Last week, it is believed Wenger is the FA’s first choice to be the next England manager and the football governing body are reportedly prepared to wait till next year when the French man’s contract at Arsenal expires.
According to the Daily Mail, Wenger has reservations about taking the England job. It is understood Wenger has doubts about how he will fit into England’s plans and he also thinks the next manager should be English and not a foreign boss.
Wenger is ready to see out his current contract at Arsenal which expires next summer , leaving England with the option of appointing an Interim manager until next summer.
Arsenal are determined to extend Wenger’s contract at the club and could take advantage of the French man’s uncertainty towards the England job to keep him at the Emirates.
Wenger has been Arsenal’s manager since 1996 but has come under severe criticism due to the club’s inability to win the title in recent years.
