Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told his club’s board that he needs just two signings in January, according to the Daily Star.
The Reds got back to winning ways on boxing day as they defeated table toppers Leicester City 1-0 courtesy a Christian Benteke Second half strike. Prior to that game, the Reds had lost to Watford and Newcastle and drew with West Brom but Klopp is not keen on splashing the cash despite his team’s inconsistent performances.
According to the Daily Star, Klopp is planning to bring in just two new faces in January and he isn’t interested in spending the cash despite the club offering him the opportunity to build his own squad with the winter transfer window.
The German is expecting his players to improve their football and buy into his ideas in the new year as he aims to finish in the top four.
According to the reports, the Reds will try to sign a centre back in January with Schalke’s Joel Matip high on the club’s wishlist along with one other player probably a utility man like Grosskreutz.
The manager will be hoping for a consistent run from his team in the second half of the season.
