Newcastle United attacking star, Ayoze Perez has confirmed Manchester United interest in signing him, according to the Metro.
In an interview with Radio club Tenerife, the striker confirmed Manchester United efforts to sign him but insisted he his happy at Newcastle.
The striker said:
“There is truth in the talk about interest in me. It’s rewarding for me.”
“There is much truth in the interest from Tottenham and Man United, but my place is at Newcastle.”
Scouts from the Old Trafford club have watched the striker this season with the hope of a January transfer move, as per Manchester evening news.
Manchester United are looking to strengthen their front line in January as Louis Van Gaal has just Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial as the only recognized strikers in his 25 man squad.
Perez has been one of the best performers for Newcastle United this season and the Red Devil’s scouts are reportedly keen on the striker.
Perez joined Newcastle for £1m in 2014 but his performances since joining the premier league side has seen his stock rise.
Tottenham are also interested in the Player and Mauricio Pochettino will be keeping a close eye on the former Tenerife man in case they can’t sign Saido Berahino in January, as per squawka
However, the player’s reluctance to leave Newcastle and Newcastle apparently unwilling to sell their forward might make it difficult for Man Utd to sign the striker in January. The Players contract at the Tyneside expires in 2019.
Perez has scored 11 league goals in 50 appearances for Newcastle since moving to the premier league in 2014.
