Liverpool look to have secured the services of Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic after the player reports to have agreed a 5 year deal with the Reds, according to reports from Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool seems to have won the race for the player’s signature with host of other clubs seemingly interested in the 19 year old Serbian.
Liverpool have already negotiated a £5 Million with the Serbian Outfit but close to £750,000 will be paid back to Liverpool because the player will spend the remainder of the season with Red Star Belgrade as the hope to qualify for next season UEFA Champions league. Grujic would be coming to Anfield for his medical in coming week to seal the deal.
Grujic has already made over 20 Super Liga appearances for Red Star Belgrade this season, scoring 5 goals in the process. He is yet to make his senior debut, although he has emerged as a regular starter for the Serbian U-21S and he was also part of the victorious Serbian U-20 World Cup winning side last summer.
He has been compared to Chelsea’s Serbian International Nemanja Matic due to his physicality in the centre of midfield, Just as the Chelsea defensive midfielder. He would be a valuable addition to the Reds, as Lucas Leiva and Jordan Henderson are not always fit to star in the central midfield position.
