Chelsea will try to sign Premier league top striker Jarmie Vardy in January despite sacking Jose Mourinho, according to the Metro.
The Blues have been struggling to score goals this season and has scored just 18 goals this season. Of the 18 goals, the club’s current strikers have 4 league goals between them. Diego Costa has scored just 3 goals this term while Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao both have 1 goal each.
It has been reported that Mourinho was interested in signing Vardy when he was coach of the Stamford bridge club but the club sacked the Portuguese tactician just few weeks before the January window.
However, it is believed that with Mourinho gone, the club will still try to push through a transfer for the striker and could submit a £30m bid in January, as per Metro.
Vardy will also be Eligible to play in the Champions league making him a more attractive target than the others.
Manchester United are also watching the striker and the Old Trafford club could join the West London side in the race to sign the Leicester City striker.
The striker has scored 15 league goals for Claudio Ranieri’s men this season. The Blues might find it hard to sign the 28 year old as Ranieri has stated the striker would not be sold in January.
Chelsea currently sit 16th on the premier league table.
