Everton boss, Roberto Martinez has reportedly identified the ideal replacement for the potentially departing John Stones, according to reports.
Stones has been a subject of speculation all summer and he is sure to be in the spotlight again when the transfer window reopens in January.
Calum Chambers signed for Arsenal from Southampton in January of 2014 for a fee that was said to rise to £16 Million but the defender has fallen down the pecking order behind Lauren Koscielny, Per Mertesacker, Gabriel Paulista and Hector Bellarin; despite the England youngster being able to play as a right back or as a central defender.
But Wenger feels that Chambers could also deputise in the defensive midfield in the absence of the injured Francis Coquelin.
Roberto Martinez is concerned that Everton would eventually sell John Stones to Manchester United if not in January then in the summer.
According to the Independent; Manchester United have identified John Stones as their priority summer transfer target, with the club ready to break the world record fee for the defender in order to sign the Everton and England centre half.
If United finally beat off every other challenge for the England defender, he could form a formidable partnership with fellow England defender Chris Smalling. The two may go on to be first choice defensive partners for England and for Manchester United.
