Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger could be hit with a three match ban.
The German international midfielder was seen on camera driving his forearm into the throat of West Ham defender Winston Reid during the weekend 0-0 draw at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Referee Mark Clattenburg missed the incident as well as the lines assistant, meaning retrospective action can be taken. If the FA finds the German guilty, he could be hammered with as much as a three game ban. Both Reid and Hammers boss Slavan Bilic accused Schweinsteiger of deliberately assaulting the defender.
The Red Devils are short of options in the team with injuries to many of the first team players. Morgan Schneiderlin who is supposed to be the direct replacement for Schweinsteiger should he be hit with a 3 game ban; picked up an injury in the nil-nil draw against West Ham United at the weekend.
Dutchman, Daley Blind could replace the injured Schneiderlin and the soon to be suspended Schweinsteiger, but United needs him more at the defence since Luke Shaw is out injured and Paddy McNair limped off in the game against West Ham.
Ander Herrera is another replacement in-case Bastian gets suspended but the Spaniard is out injured. Meaning that youngster Ander Pereira could get his first league start in a long while, and should he impress the coach; he may start clamouring for a start in subsequent games.
