Manchester United can resurrect a deal for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema if they so wish, according to reports.
United were believed to be one of the teams interested in Benzema during the summer, along with The Gunners and the Parisians.
At that point the Frenchman was valued at £43 Million, with the new manager Rafael Benitez keen to keep hold of him. It is claimed that Real Madrid are now looking to offload the player in light of the recent blackmail scandal. This has paved the way to sign the 27 years old for considerably less than what he was worth in the summer.
The Red Devils are in dying need of a proven goal poacher, especially in the January transfer window; if the team are to retain any chances of competing for the title, FA Cup and at least finish in the top four this season. United played out the fifth 0-0 draw in 9 matches; causing serious concerns among the management and fans alike.
Benzema would be a wonderful acquisition to united if he is indeed available. The Frenchman was courted by the Old Trafford club under Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign during the striker’s time at French side Olympique Lyonnais; before opting to join Spanish giants Real Madrid for £35M.
Van Gaal and Ed Woodward need to try every means possible to save the face of the club by securing the strikers signature, even if it means using David Degea as a bait; after all the Spanish would certainly be sold to Real Madrid in the summer as Real plan to meet his buyout clause.
