Manchester United legend Roy Keane has slammed Wayne Rooney, labelling the Red Devil captain as mentally and physically out of shape. The Irish man believes that Wayne Rooney doesn’t look sharp; physically he doesn’t look in great shape that he has to look at himself.
Wayne Rooney burst into the scene age 16 years of age when he announced himself to the world with that wonder strike against the Gunners; he is 29 years of age now and has been scoring consistently for 12 years. The kind of quality players Wayne Rooney played with in the past made scoring look so easy.
The likes of Cristian Ronaldo, Nani, Scholes, United current assistant coach; Ryan Giggs were all quality and exceptional talents who creates chances for attackers to finish off.
But since Sir Alex Ferguson retired from United, the quality of players has dropped drastically, the Red Devils under David Moyes were relying heavily on Adnan Januzaj for inspiration; this goes to show the decline in the United squad; With Tyler Blackett, Paddy McNair being relied on for defensive cover where United use to have Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand marshalling the defence and Paul Scholes orchestrating the midfield while David Beckham and Giggs run the flanks.
Rooney is not the problem at United; the quality in the team has dropped drastically and so is the performance level of many players who could only do the best they can. Martial is also struggling now after enjoying a perfect start and so is Depay. Keane and the rest of Wayne’s critics should ‘’cut the player some slack’’
