Championship club Reading has confirmed that Chelsea wants their defender Micheal Hector back at West London in January.
Hector signed for Chelsea on transfer deadline day last summer for a fee of about £4.5million but was immediately sent back to Reading for the rest of the season.
Reading Chief Samrit Thanakanchanasut has claimed that the premier league champions want the defender to make the step up to the premier league sooner than expected.
Thanakanchanasut told Goal: “Chelsea want him back early but I think we’ll retain him as we agreed until the end of the season.”
The defender has been praised by Reading boss Steve Clark:
“Michael reads the game well, he sticks his head on the ball, can make tackles and can pass out from the back as well.
“He’s got a lot of good attributes which is why Chelsea decided to take him on board. Hopefully he goes on to have a big career with them.”
The blues have been poor defensively this season, They have conceded sloppy goals as a result of individual and collective mistakes and Jose is looking to bolster his defensive options by recalling the 23 year old.
The blues have also been linked with a move for Everton’s John Stones since last summer, the West London club had three bids rejected for the England international last summer and the blues are keen to return for the 21 year old when the winter transfer winter opens in January.
