Chelsea are preparing an ambitious swoop for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
British tabloid The Sun reported that Jose Mourinho is keen to strengthen his strikeforce when the transfer window opens in January despite the Portuguese stating he is happy with his players and won’t look to add to his squad in January.
Mourinho has been known for keeping his cards close to his chest especially when it comes to transfer dealings and it will be surprising if Chelsea doesn’t add to their squad in January.
The sun claims that Aubameyang is the main Chelsea target despite the West London club being linked with a host of strikers.
The paper also claims that Chelsea scouts have been impressed by the Gabonese and are desperate for the blues to sign the striker who has 23 goals in 21 appearances this term.
It is believed that Chelsea will table a £20million bid, a figure well short of Borussia Dortmund’s valuation for the striker.
Earlier this week, German newspaper Bild claimed BVB are prepared to sell the striker but not for a fee less than €60million.
The striker himself stated last week that he is happy at the Signal Iduna park but a huge bid and salary could change the striker’s mind.
