Chelsea are interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann, according to reports.
The Daily Mail claims Chelsea are looking at the possibility of bringing the centre back to West London as they attempt to boost the number of homegrown players in the club.
Palace are in pole position to keep their centre back as Dann just signed a new contract with Alan Pardew’s side.
With John Terry getting to the end of his career and Gary Cahill’s incosistent performances, the Blues are looking to strengthen their defense in January.
The Blues are currently in search for a center back and had three bids for John Stones turned down by Everton last summer. The blues then turned their attention to Paris Saint Germain defender Marquinhos but the blues were also turned down.
Jose Mourinho then ended up signing Papy Djilobodji from Nice and Micheal Hector from Reading, while Hector was loaned back to Reading for the rest of the season, Papy Djilobodji remained in the squad but the Senegalese has failed to break into the blues first team and has just made one substitute appearance for the blues in a league cup game.
Scott Dann might not be a world class defender for Chelsea but he should provide enough competition for Gary Cahill and Terry.
