Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho watched his club’s under 21 side defeat Liverpool’s under 21 side on Sunday.
The blues youth team defeated their counterparts 4-0.
Ruben Loftus Cheek was part of the team that defeated Liverpool and the 19 year old was the star of the show.
The midfielder played in a No 10 role and scored a brilliant goal as he helped his team defeat Liverpool.
Loftus Cheek scored the second goal of the night with a sublime strike after Bertrand Traore opened the scoring for his side. Tammy Abraham finished the game with a quickfire double as the young blues marched on to victory.
Mourinho handed Loftus Cheek his champions league debut against Sporting Lisbon Last year and since then he has been gradually integrated into the senior team.
The clubs poor start to the season has seen Loftus cheek less involved in the first team than he would have expected but the 19 year old is highly rated at Stamford bridge. The Portuguese have also criticized the 19 year old for his poor performance defensively and also urged him to improve defensively although the attacking side of his game is very good.
Loftus Cheek have progressed through the Chelsea youth ranks having joined the club at the age of 8.
Mourinho’s side sits 16th on the Premier league table after their poor start to the season. The blues have lost seven league games this season and have won just three.
