Manchester United coach Louis Van Gaal has explained the promotion of Axel Tuanzebe to the first team in recent weeks. Van Gaal talked about the young defender in his match programme note for victory over Westbrom.
Van Gaal said that ‘’over the coming months, using the full squad will become important in our quest to be challenging on three fronts’’.
The need to have a large squad could be the reason why the Dutch coach refused offers for Jesse Lingard to go on loan; as there were lots of teams that wanted the youngster on a season long loan.
Van Gaal is also reportedly planning on cutting short Belgium youngster, Adnan Januzaj’s season long loan with Borrusia Dortmund. The talented winger would be a helping hand in keeping the squad fresh as he can play on either the left or right wing of the United attack.
Axel Tuanzebe was also included in the match day squad when the red devils traveled to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, but he was an unused substitute. Fellow new invitee Cameron Borthwick-Johnson got little playing time in the game against West Brom when he was brought in late in the game.
