Manchester United continued to be linked with almost every player available. The latest player is Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes.
United as well as Premier league champions Chelsea have been reported to be interested in the midfield player as they have reported to have sent scouts to watch the midfielder represent Valencia against Gent in the Champions league.
Andre Gomes played for Valencia as a loan player from Benfica of Portugal in the 2014/2015 season but has made the move permanent to the Mestalla. The 22 years old’s style of play is something the United team could make do with; Gomes loves to surge forward with the ball at his feet, he loves committing players in central areas of the field and creating space for his team mates to work within.
Gomes signed a 5 year contract with Valencia after his loan move was made permanent; according to the Daily Express early in the year, the midfielder stated that he doesn’t care about offers from Manchester United and is not interested in talks about his release clause. When pressed about the £37M release clause in his current contract, Gomes suggested it was irrelevant and could be set as high as Valencia want.
The midfielder is rumoured to be one of Louis Van Gaal’s high priority signing and they did make inroads into signing the midfield man in January; however it seems it would take a mammoth offer and a change of heart for Gomes to be joining any time soon, especially given his standing in the Valencia side.
