Manchester United have defeated West Brom in this Premier league fixture; here are the important things we learnt from the game
1. UNITED HAVE NOT CONCEDED A GOAL IN 480 MINUTES OF FOOTBALL
As much as soccer pundits and Journalist alike would love to criticise coach Louis Van Gaal, the Gaffer’s team set up has seen United keep clean sheet in over 500 minutes of football (90 minutes against Everton, Manchester city, Crystal Palace and West Brom then 120 minutes against Middlesbrough in the capital one cup). The last time United conceded was in a 3-0 loss against Arsenal on the 4th of October.
2. A STAR IS BORN
In Jesse Lingard United have found a new star that can help solve the crisis in the right hand side of the attack. Lingard has got great dribbling ability and is a star for the future.
3. VAN GAAL’s PHILOSOPHY IS ROBBING OFF ON UNITED
Louis Van Gaal has built a reputation for himself; he is known as one of the few coaches in the world that loves developing youths. During his reign as coach of Ajax, he won the UEFA Champions league with one of the most youthful side in young Patrick Kluivert, Marc Overmars, and Litman etc.
He did give Carles Puyol, victor Valdes, Xavi Hernandez etc. their chances at Barcelona and when at Bayern Munich, he brought in Thomas Muller, Tony Kroos to the first team; all these players have gone on to become super stars and now at United; he is giving youth the chances to thrive and some are already seizing the opportunity i.e. Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira, James Wilson and most recently Cameron Borthwick-Jackson who made his debut today against Westbrom.
4. UNITED WOULD ONLY GET BETTER
The hallmark of United’s title winning side under Sir Alex Ferguson has been keeping a mean defence that always keep it clean at the back. Van Gaal has being doing that for United since he took over, he will get the right attacking players to blend with the already mean defence and United would be competitive again. Like he said he needs time and time is what United fans should give him.
