According to the Metro, Manchester City offered 16 year old Callum Gribbing a massive £11,000 – a – week to seal a controversial transfer which the young star rejected in other to remain at Old Trafford with the United youth team.
Gribbing is an attacking midfielder who can also operate as a second striker and has great potential; he is likened to Ryan Giggs by those within the Red devils youth set-up.
The attacking midfielder has already trained with Louis Van Gaal’s first team but plays majority of his matches with the under 18 side.
Louis Van Gaal and the United board will have assistant coach Ryan Giggs to thank as it was reported that it was the assistant coach who convinced the young star to stay. 16 year old Gribbing later signed a four year contract with United.
Manchester United should be able to monitor the contract situations of players, especially those whose contract are entering the final two years.
It will be recalled that Manchester United almost lost Januzaj to other European power house; however, former United boss David Moyes was able to convince the young Belgian to sign a new contract.
Paul Pogba left Man United for free after running down his contract. Several attempts were made to give him new contract but he opted to leave to join Turin giants Juventus. He has gone on to be one of the best young players to have left United in recent years.
