Manchester United have been dealt a major blow in their pursuit for Barcelona super star Neymar Junior.
The Brazilian currently earns £250,000-a-week but that sum would be doubled in his new contract to fend of interest from Premier League giant Manchester united.
United attempted to sign Neymar for £139M but the deal was rejected out rightly by Barcelona. It is believed that Neymar is seen as the long term replacement for the ageing Argentine mega star Lionel Messi and the future of the club.
Neymar formed a deadly attacking partnership with fellow South Americans Louis Suarez and Lionel Messi. They were referred to as MSN (Messi-Neymar-Suarez) and this combination amounted to them scoring over 122 goals last season which won Barcelona the La Liga, Copa Del Rey, UEFA Champions League and the Spanish super cup.
With Lionel Messi out injured, Neymar took the goal burden and has not disappointed, He is currently La Liga’s leading scorer.
The Brazilian has a bright future ahead and Manchester United though ambitious; this is one deal that certainly won’t happen any time soon because Barcelona have already identify Neymar as the future of the club.
Maybe a bid in excess of £250M could get the Barcelona hierarchy to have a re-think, but Neymar would struggle to cope with the pace and intensity of the Premier League.
