Manchester United has made an approach to sign Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte. The defender has been linked with a move to the Barclays Premier league for quite sometime but it is believed that Manchester United lead the race to sign the France Under 21 international
El Correa claims Manchester United have been told that they must be ready to pay £35m before they can have any chance of signing the 20 year old centre defender. The French man has impressed in La liga after moving up to Bilbao’s first team.
The centre back recently cooled talks of a move to Manchester United stating he was settled at Bilbao and isn’t agitating for a move. Larpote was quoted as saying:
“My name is mentioned in every transfer window and with a lot of teams,” he told Spanish outlet AS.
“I’ve renewed four times with Athletic. I’ve done what I wanted, I’ve shown confidence in the club and them in me.
“Let’s see if we can add more trophies.”
Barcelona are said to be interested in the defender as they seek a long term replacement for Carles Puyol while Chelsea are said to be keen on the defender as an alternative target if they can’t sign Everton’s John Stones as the blues search for a long term replacement for John Terry.
Larpote has represented France in all age groups up to the U21 level and has made over 90 appearances for the La liga club.
