Four Things Manchester United MUST Do To BEAT CSKA Moscow Tonight

What should Louis Van Gaal should do to beat CSKA Moscow.

Manchester United will make the long trip to Russia to face CSKA Moscow on Wednesday’s UEFA Champions league Match Day 3 fixture. We look at 5 things.      Louis Van Gaal and his wards must do to come away with all 3 points from the Arena Khimki Stadium.

  1. RETAIN POSSESSION

Louis Van Gaal should urge his players to retain possession for as long as possible and frustrate the opposition players thereby wearing them down. This has worked very well for LVG’s team so far this season, the only match where they could not hold on to possession was against Arsenal in the first half and the result was catastrophic but in the second half, they controlled possession and limited Arsenal to only counter attacking moves.

  1. HERRERA IS KEY

Anders Herrara is one player that is very vital in the United Midfield role, he is Paul scholes look alike and have a nact for scoring crucial goals and giving assist to team mates. His off the ball movement caused series of problems for Everton as he keeps dropping into space and collecting the ball thereby giving Rooney and Martial time to roam freely into dangerous positions.

  1. CUT OFF CSKA THREAT FROM THE FLANKS

The greatest chance of CSKA Moscow getting a goal is from the left or right flank being operated by pacy wingers in the mode of Ahmed Musa and Zoran Tosic. Both players can cut in and take direct shots at goal or can cross the ball into the 18 yard box where seydou Doumbia is menacing with his head or with his foot.

United should deploy the same tactics they used against Everton by keeping the wingers busy doing the defence duties rather than having time to attack or deploy wingers that can supports the two wing backs always thereby limiting the threat of Ahmed Musa and Zoran Tosic.

  1. FORGET ABOUT DERBY NEXT WEEK

LVG should not be tempted to rest his star players because of the Manchester derby coming up on sunday. Manchester City are also involved in the champions league and although won’t be travelling for their own fixture on tuesday night, but will still send their best squad to prosecute this encounter because City are in need of a win especially in front of their own fans after loosing to last year’s runners-up Juventus on match day 1.

LVG should take the matches one after the other, Win tomorrow then prepare for Sunday, this players live for such challenges and can cope with two fixtures in a week. 3 days is enough to prepare for the derby on Sunday.
